How To Install Your Blinds
Okay, you need blinds for your windows, but you have never purchased or installed blinds before. This should not be a problem, as long as you can read a tape measure and use a hammer and screwdriver. Installing blinds is pretty simple and straight forward, without any complicated steps involved. It does not matter whether you are male or female, or what age you are.
First, before you even purchase or attempt to install your blinds, take accurate measurements of each window you are getting blinds for. This will help you ensure the proper fit, both along the height and the width. Otherwise you could end up with window coverings that do not quite cover, or that are too long and wide. After you have the exact measurements of your windows, now it is time to buy your blinds. After you have them and bring them home, it is time to start the installation process.
Before you start putting brackets up and creating holes in your walls, get a pencil. Now hold your blinds up at the exact spot that you want them to hang. Use the pencil to make a very light, very small mark on the wall where the brackets will go, on either side of the blinds. This will help guarantee that the brackets are installed in the right spot at the right height, so that your blinds look and fit perfect. Now get your hammer and screwdriver out, because these come into play during the next step.
Take both brackets for your blinds and attach both of them to the wall where you made the marks, one bracket per mark. These usually attach with small screws, normally three or four to a bracket. If the screws do not want to go into the wall easily, simply tap them gently once or twice with the hammer to start them, and then continue with the screwdriver. Make sure to line the brackets up precisely with the marks on the wall during the installation, so that they are far enough apart to hold the blinds. It is very important that the open side of the bracket is facing the front so that the blinds can slide into it.
Once you have installed the brackets, it is time to install the blinds into the brackets. The blinds should slide easily into the open ends of the brackets, so that they are held in place. Once this is done, use the small piece and slide it into the open side of the brackets, locking the blinds in place and improving the looks of them. Now simply stand back and admire your beautiful new blinds, installed perfectly by you without any professional help.
